Day 1
Day 1: Arrival/Nairobi
On arrival in Nairobi (flight and time TBA) you will be met by our driver and transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Hemingway hotel on Bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2
Day 2: Nairobi City Tour
Pick up this morning after breakfast and drive to the nearby Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (open 11-12). This orphanage for Elephant Calves and Rhinos was founded and still managed by Daphne Sheldrick, the widow of one of Kenya's best known Game Wardens, David Sheldrick. Elephant calves orphaned by poaching are brought here from all over the country. They get extremely specialized treatment here, and literally receive personal care 24 hours a day from highly dedicated staff who becomes surrogate mothers to the calves. You can also "adopt" an elephant for approx. USD 50 a year. You will also visit the Giraffe Centre whose key objective is conservation of the endangered Rothschild giraffes where you will have an opportunity of feeding these giraffes from a raised platform. Lunch at the Carnivore restaurant where meats are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit that dominates the restaurant's entrance. The rough-hewn beams combine the rustic feel of a rural setting with that of a medieval banqueting hall. The Carnivore doesn't conform to the familiar restaurant traditions. First, the soup of the day along with a plate of home baked bread and butter are served. Then, an army of carvers move table to table, Swords laden carving juicy cuts onto sizzling cast-iron plates. Accompanying the meat feast is a selection of salads, vegetable side dishes and sauces. After lunch, visit the nearby Karen Blixen Museum whose history dates back to 1914, during the First World War, with the arrival of Karen Blixen from Denmark. The house was restored by the Danish government, and was used during the filming of "Out of Africa" which immortalized Karen Blixen's book by the same name. Â Return to your hotel for overnight at Overnight at Hemingways hotel. (Breakfast and lunch included)
Day 3
Day 3: Nairobi - Maasai Mara National Reserve (5hrs drive)
Pick up this morning from your hotel and drive on the floor of the Great Rift (with a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley View point - Here you can watch the enthralling Rift valley with its vast vegetation and the sun rays kissing the far and wide stretching mountains in the surrounding. The Great Rift Valley is a wonder of the world stretching from the Middle East passing through Africa and has a great and vast chunk in East African part and ends in Mozambique in the South.) Proceed to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game, it is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Arrive for lunch at your lodge followed by a late afternoon game drive until sunset. Meals and overnight at Tipilikwani Mara Camp on full board basis: (Lunch and dinner included)
Day 4
Day 4: Maasai Mara:
Early morning optional balloon ride at an extra cost.(Enjoy the thrill of gliding high above the impressive Masai Mara savannah while looking down at herds of elephants and zebras tottering beneath you. A champagne breakfast awaits you in the middle of the bush). Whole day spent in the reserve, Kenya's most popular game sanctuary where your search for the Big Five continues. These are the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend entire day in the park, or you can choose to have early morning and late afternoon game drives. You will also have the option of visiting a local Maasai village at an extra cost. All meals and overnight at Tipilikwani Mara Camp on full board basis (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner is included)
Day 5
Day 5: Mara - Diani;
After a leisurely breakfast, check out at 1000hrs and transfer to the airstrip (with game drive en route) for your flight scheduled to depart at 1400hrs to Diani. On arrival in Diani at 1625hrs, you will be met by our driver and transferred to your hotel. Evening at leisure with dinner and overnight at Neptune Palm Beach Resort on All-inclusive basis. (Breakfast and dinner included)
Day 6
Day 6: Diani
Day spent in Diani at leisure or with optional activities some at an extra cost. Overnight at Neptune Palm Beach Resort on All-inclusive basis. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 7
Day 7: Diani
Extra day spent in Diani at leisure or with optional activities some at an extra cost. Overnight at Neptune Palm Beach Resort on All-inclusive basis. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 8
Day 8: Diani - Nairobi.
Mid-morning at leisure enjoying hotel facilities. Lunch and later check out. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight scheduled to depart at 1515hrs to Nairobi. On arrival at 1710hrs, you will be met by our driver and transferred to JKIA for your international flight (Time TBA) back home.
