About Nairobi Arboretum
30.4 hectares of wooded land located in the Kilimani area, about 3 km from Nairobi City Centre and adjacent to the State House, Arboretum is a place close to the heart of those who need some tranquility and/or solitude. It is surrounded by River Kirichwa Kubwa, Arboretum drive and Kenya Girl Guides Headquarters. It has shaded walkways, jogging trails and picnic sites. Now a public-owned reserve, this place was established by Mr. Batiscombe (the then Deputy Forest Conservator). It hosts over 350 species of indigenous and exotic plants, over 100 bird species and sykes & vervet monkeys
