Located at Kenyatta Avenue-Uhuru Highway Junction, this was the old colonial PC’s building fondly referred to as “Hatches, Matches & Dispatches” as births, marriages & deaths were initially documented here. It is a national monument holding temporarily artefacts and rich Kenyan pre-colonial history. It is also the location of Point Zero where all distances wherefrom all distances in Kenya were measured. Tiles here are designed to look like the 16-point compass, and school children on exhibition tours are taught on how to measure directions. It has art and artefacts, a lamu sofa, African jewelry, Joseph Murumbi room and materials & designs from many parts of the country
