About Uhuru Gardens
Also known as Freedom Park, this is a recreational park where people, families & friends meet and relax. It also hosts corporate launches, weddings, concerts, film locations, to name a few events. It is about 8 km from the city centre, was declared a national monument in 1966 and is where the Kenyan flag was initially raised on 12th December-1963 when the country attained independence from the colonial rule. It is run by the National Museums of Kenya and hosts 2 majestic monuments and a mugumo tree. A memorial tunnel has been added of recent, depicting the dark moments of Kenyan history, with names of those who lost their lives
