How to get to Kilifi

  • By Air: Flights run daily from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport to Malindi. The flight is 1 hour. You can then get a taxi or shuttle from the Malindi airport to Kilifi. This is a 1 hour 10 minute drive. The road distance from Malindi to Kilifi is 55 kilometers (34 miles)
    Alternatively, flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport to Mombasa are 1 hour 10 minutes, where you can then get a taxi or shuttle from the Moi International Airport to Kilifi. This is a 1 hour drive.The road distance from Mombasa to Kilifi is 51 kilometers (32 miles)
  • By Rail: The Madaraka Express (SGR) from Nairobi to Mariakani takes 5 hours 28 minutes. You can then get a taxi or shuttle from the SGR terminus at Mariakani to Kilifi. This is a 1hour 30 minutes drive.
  • By Road: You can catch an overnight bus from Nairobi to Kilifi. This is a long trip taking 9 hours, but normally the most cost effective way to get to Kilifi.
    If self driving follow Mombasa road from Nairobi to Mombasa then proceed to Kilifi. The road distance from Nairobi to Kilifi is 426 kilometers (265 miles).
