About Il Ngwesi Conservancy
Found in Laikipia, this is a community initiative between the Maasai & Borana Conservancy. This serves as a very important wildlife extending south to Mt. Kenya and a home for free-roaming black rhino, African wild dog, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk (giraffe antelope) and reticulated giraffe among others. Buffalo, elephant, lion, hyena and other grazers are also found here. The conservancy is also listed as an Important Bird Area with a report of over 400 bird species. The Maasai here are very welcoming and will provide a visitor with tales and narrations about their ways of life and rich culture and how they manage to successfully survive in the wild.
