Found towards the north eastern side of Kenya, these 3 reserves, joined at heap, are very unique as they have special variety of wildlife that are endemic to arid-zones and are rarely seen in any southern Kenya game sanctuaries. These include the graceful Grevy's Zebra, scimitar-horned Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, long-necked Gerenuk (the giraffe antelope) and the blue-shanked Somali Ostrich. Other wild game seen are lion, occasional leopard, elephant, buffalo and hippo amongst others. The Koitogor and Ololokwe mountain peaks provide very beautiful backdrops against the African skies. The Ewaso Ng'iro river straddling the reserves provide a life support system to the wildlife within. For an extra treat, the drive from Nairobi gives one an unforgettable experience of passing through different vegetation zones and crossing the equator at Nanyuki town, with chances of seeing Mt. Kenya in case the skies are clear with no cloud cover.
