This private tour will keep you busy with unlimited game drives on the great expanse of Tsavo East and the scenic hills and savannah of Tsavo West. Between the two parks, all of Africaâs Big Five roam these fields and bush. This short safari is a perfect impulse getaway and no advance planning is needed. Just let us know and weâll have you on safari in no time.
Ever hear of Tsavo lions? The adult males are famous for their appearance â theyâre missing the usual mane. They are also historically fierce, as told by folklore from a hundred years past. Weâll be on the âhuntâ for them in Tsavo East National Park, as well as other large and small predators throughout the vastness of this rugged reserve.
Rolling green hills, volcanic lava beds, monkeys, giraffes, lions and rhinos. Tsavo West National Park is a scenic feast of landscape and wildlife. Weâll pay a visit to lush Mzima Springs to walk near the hippos and crocodiles, then journey to the resident rhino sanctuary and try our luck spotting the big, elusive creatures. Thereâs so much to observe on this busy 3-day tour, so read through the itinerary below and let us know if you have any favorites. Natural World Kenya Safaris specializes in personalized getaway safari adventures!
All-Inclusive. Your 3-day Tsavo East/Tsavo West safari includes park entrance fees, game drives, accommodations and meals. Natural World Kenya Safaris always offers a choice of accommodations. Depending on your budget and style choose from economy, comfort or luxury safari lodges or tented camps.
Day 1
Nairobi â Tsavo East National Park: (320 km: 5 Hrs drive)
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
06:00 hrs. â Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Nairobi airport.
Weâll head out in our 4 x 4 Jeep for Tsavo East on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway also known as the early explorerâs route.
Weâll arrive at Tsavoâs gate where the immense sweep of the parkâs great expanse will fill our horizon. Take a break if youâd like but then weâll fire up the 4 x 4 and head off on our first game drive.
This is big savannah country and weâll be looking for lions and the great elephants that populate these red-dust plains. Punctuating the arid sweep of the park, its refreshing watering holes are a natural draw for the reserveâs thirsty inhabitants.
We may visit Aruba Dam and Mudanda Rock to watch the elephants and lesser creatures gather for sustenance at these watering spots.
Weâll enjoy lunch and then jump into the 4 x 4 for more afternoon game drives. Throughout your safari, your driver/guide is your expert advisor on all manner of wildlife and the wondrous scenes of nature before you.
Youâll spend your first safari night at Tsavo East at the lodge or tented camp of your choice.
Day 2
TSAVO EAST â WEST (60 kms â Approx. 1 hr)
When in Tsavo East, we rise with the birds, that is, before the sun. Our early morning game drive will afford us exquisite views of the park emerging in the dawning light. In this special atmosphere, we will observe the animals as they come into the new day.
Breakfast follows at our lodge or tented camp and then weâre off again on another game drive to discover buffalo, impala, eland and some of the parkâs 500 species of birds.
But soon itâs time to journey to the other Tsavo⦠Tsavo West. The short drive there will give us more opportunities to spot wildlife.
The look and feel of this park is different â more color, more foliage and some very green surprises like Mzima Springs. The crystal waters feeding this haven and the palm shrouded banks impart the feeling of a lush oasis. Weâll look for hippo, crocodile, exotic fish and migratory birdlife.
The park also is home to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, protecting at least 80 of these endangered animals. Weâll drive through and perhaps spot some of the magnificent rhinos.
Our final safari night will be in Tsavo West at your choice of accommodation.
Day 3
Tsavo East National Park â Nairobi: (320 km: 5 Hrs. drive)
Itâs another early morning for safari-goers! Letâs add more animal sightings to our list.
A delicious safari breakfast follows and then one more bonus game drive over the striking plains of Tsavo West. Look for bushbaby, hartebeest, impala, and scampering in the parkâs many acacia trees â monkeys!
But now itâs time to exit the park on our way back to Nairobi.
We should have you back to your hotel, residence or the airport in the late afternoon, approximately 17:30 hrs. (5:30 pm).
We hope you checked off lots of wildlife from your list and enjoyed your time at these two famous parks. From our family to yours, thank you for going on safari with us â Asante! (Thanks!) And hope to see you soon.
