What to Expect
A safari that combines the scenic beauty of Samburu, Thomson falls and its huge herds of Elephants, the Rift Valley and the beautiful Maasai Mara and the Great Migration.
Day 1
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi you will be met and assisted by our representative. Later you will be transferred to the hotel. If you will arrive in the evening, you will be transferred directly to the hotel for overnight.
If you arrive in the morning, you will have free time to rest all the day or do some optional excursions. Those excursions will be offered depending with different arrival times for the international flights. Possible optional excursions offered are:- Visit to the Karen Blixen Museum (out of Africa), Daphne Sheldrik Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Centre, National Museum, handcraft center and shopping at Utamaduni Craft Shop..etc. Overnight at Crown Plaza Nairobi Airport on Bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2
After breakfast, drive to Buffalo Springs and Samburu Game Reserves in the same name region, where the arid and the desert lands of the northern Kenya begin. We will drive through the land of the Kikuyu people, the largest tribe in the Kenya, surrounding Mount Kenya, home of their God, and the second tallest mountain in Africa. We will pass through the equator line and arrive to Samburu in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will depart for our first game drive in the Game Reserve. Meals and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge. Full board accommodation.
Day 3
The area formed by the Samburu and Buffalo Springs Reserves constitutes one of the most interesting places above the Rift Valley of Kenya. Those Game Reserves are made up of what the English people call “Bush†During this second day in Samburu and after breakfast at the Lodge, we will depart very early to search for the animals along with the sunset as this is the best time to capture and take beautiful photographs as they look for their food before it gets warm in the day. The animals tend to seek shelter under the shades of the trees and bushes during the warm hours of the day making it hard to spot them.
In the ecosystem of Samburu, there exist specific animals that can only be spotted in this area like; the gerenuk, Somali Ostrich, the Reticulated Giraffe and the Beisa Oryx as well as diverse habitats and beautiful landscapes that maintain a varied African Fauna. This Game Reserve is also characterized by its population of Leopards and Lions, as well as herds of Elephants and crocodiles. All this make the entire Samburu Game Reserve one of the most beautiful and special Game Reserves in the Country.
Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. One of those days in Samburu, optionally you can visit Samburu Village. Here you will have a chance to see and visit their typical huts, enjoy their welcome dances and listen to their daily lives and experiences like looking after cattle and hunting with the young warriors, women and the elderly. Meals and overnight at the Samburu Simba Lodge.
Day 4
After breakfast in Samburu, drive away with a game drive en-route up to the park gate. Head straight on to Lake Nakuru down into the Rift Valley. On our way we will make a stopover at the Thomson Falls. Here we have a chance to take a photograph with the famous Kikuyu warriors. Later, drive all the way to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. Depart for an afternoon game drive at the Lake Nakuru National Park. This is a world-famous ornithological paradise where well-known TV channels like BBC, CNN and TVE to mention but a few, meet to make amazing documentaries that are seen on our screens worldwide. The lake looks pink due to the huge numbers of flamingoes that live in the shores of Lake making it very famous in the world. Nakuru is also a sanctuary for the endangered white rhino and it’s a home of other wild animals like Lions and Leopards. If the level of water is down, we can have a chance to walk along the lake shores and delight our senses with the sound and color of the Lake and its more than 400 bird species. Meals and overnight Flamingo Hill Tented Camp or Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 5
After breakfast in Nakuru, the clients can decide to choose the option of visiting Lake Naivasha en-route or drive from Nakuru direct to Maasai Mara. If you pass through Naivasha, you will do an optional boat ride in Lake Naivasha.
During the boat ride, you will be able to see hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles..etc. It is in this area that many scenes of the movie “Out of Africa†were filmed.
Later, drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, for many, this is the best game reserve known for game viewing in the world. Hundreds of thousands of animals, mainly herbivores, which attract a great number of predators and scavengers, roam at its widest along the hills and the Mara Plains plenty of game attracted by its magnificent pastures and permanent waters. Here and in the neighboring Serengeti, this forms part of Maasai Mara ecosystem, the great migration of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles etc... takes place here every year. Depart for an afternoon game drive until sunset. Meals and overnight at the Basecamp Masai Mara camp
Day 6
Full days in Maasai Mara dedicated to morning and afternoon game drives.
You will have a chance to visit different areas of this beautiful game reserve like Paradise plain, Meta Plains, burrungant plains and the rest for the safari areas like the “crossing points of the Mara River†Our guide will be very aware of happenings even he will be able to spot the vultures on the skies that can give us a signal on the presence of predators recent prey. You can optionally visit a typical Maasai village. During the visit you will be able to see huts, enjoy special welcome dance and be able to Jump with young Maasai warriors. You will be able to share their experiences with cattle and hunting with young warriors, women and the elderly. One of those days, you can optionally choose to depart for a full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes to be able to explore more areas with full game drives. (At no extra cost) Meals and overnight at Loyk Mara Luxury Camp.
Day 7
Full days in Maasai Mara dedicated to morning and afternoon game drives.

Day 8
After breakfast, you will return back to Nairobi by road. On arrival to Nairobi, lunch will be included at the Carnivore restaurant. Optional activities like visit to Karen Blixen Museum can be done this afternoon. You can substitute the Carnivore lunch by doing a morning game drive in Maasai Mara and depart for Nairobi in the afternoon. Lunch will be at the Lodge. After lunch, drive back to Nairobi. Arrive to Nairobi in time for your international departure flight. Most of the international flights depart Nairobi as from 22.45 hrs onwards. With at least 03 hours or 03 ½ hours, transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta international Airport for your departure flight with schedule to be determined by the flight booked. The last day can be fully adjusted to suit your flights and schedule. It is recommended to take an afternoon/evening or early morning international departure flight.
