3 Days Meru National Park
What to Expect
This is a 3 days tour to the wild and remote Meru National Park with emphasis on game drives.
The Meru Conservation Area is the second largest adjoining elephant habitat in Kenya after the TsavoÃÂ National Parks. It is one of the best places in Kenya to see rhinos in the wilderness. At last count, the 83ÃÂ sq km Rhino Sanctuary was home to 34 black and 70 white rhinos. The park is also famous for its lionsÃÂ and large buffalo herds. We will base ourselves in a small Tented near the park with en suite facilitiesÃÂ and explore the park from there.
Day 1
Nairobi to Meru Park
The tour begins at 7am as we depart towards the lush central highlands; circumventing Mount Kenya and arriving Meru in the afternoon. We will make a stop for lunch en route. Enjoy an afternoon game drive followed by check in to the tented camp at sunset. Meal plan: Lunch & dinner
Day 2
Meru Park
Due to the vast size of the park; we will enjoy a full day exploring the park with a packed lunch.
You will truly enjoy the wilderness and the wildlife of Meru which includes Grevy's zebras, elephants, lions, Bohor reedbucks and hartebeests. We will also make a visit to the Rhino Sanctuary. The area devoted to the protection and population increase of rhinos is today about 50 square kilometers and is located on the Western boundary of the park. Here 40 white and 20 black rhinos roam freely.
The bird life is also impressive and there are roughly 280 recorded species.
We return to the camp in the late afternoon. Here you have the option to enjoy a leisurely walk along the nature trails which is particularly rewarding after the long daysâ activities. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
