AGENTS FAM TRIP TO KENYA -2022

What to Expect

Immerse yourself in the wildlife and culture of East Africa on this unforgettable safari adventure. Uncover captivating history, explore the wild and Kenyan landscapes and spot the majestic 'Big Five' at some of the most celebrated game reserves on the continent. The maximum group number for this tour will be capped at 20, allowing for a more intimate, personal experience.

Day 1

You will be met upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Silver Africa representative who will transfer you and your luggage to Ole Sereni Airport Hotel. Our representative will assist you with check-in formalities so you can relax and recharge after your journey. Nairobi is Kenya's thriving capital city that embodies modern African culture alongside memorable wildlife encounters. Just outside the sprawling Centre lies Nairobi National Park, an expanse of rolling plains where lions, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, and endangered black rhinos roam the vast grasslands, set against a contrasting urban backdrop. We arrive this evening and transfer to our hotel, the Ole Sereni hotel. Dinner under own arrangements.

Day 2

We uncover the culture and history of dynamic Nairobi, the beating heart of Kenya, with a morning of sightseeing. Our first visit of the day is to the Nairobi Railway Museum, the only Railway Museum in East and Central Africa. The museum was opened in 1971 by the now-defunct East African Railways who, as a result of the rapid changes in the railway industry, felt it was important to create lasting, tangible links to the past. After this visit we drive to Nairobi National Museum and the adjacent snake park. We continue to the Karen Blixen Museum, the former coffee plantation and home of renowned Danish author Karen Blixen, tucked away at the base of the Ngong Hills. Blixen is most famous for penning the 1937 memoir 'Out of Africa', which chronicles the 17 years of her life spent in colonial Kenya, then known as British East Africa, and presents a lively recollection of everyday life here. This evening we are treated to a special dining experience at the Carnivore Restaurant. Taking inspiration from Brazilian rodízio restaurants, the restaurant serves a variety of meats skewered on Maasai swords and grilled on an enormous barbecue pit. The Carnivore Restaurant is renowned for its variety of exotic meats and famous Dawa cocktails. A uniquely Kenyan take on the Brazilians Churrascaria, an enormous variety of meat is roasted on a huge spear over a hot coal fire and carved at your table onto piping hot plates. Fresh salads unusual side dishes and assorted sauces accompany beef, pork, lamb, sausages, chicken, ostrich, and occasionally crocodile.

Day 3

This morning after breakfast, we drive to the South arriving at Zebra Plains Amboseli in time for lunch and later on proceed on a game viewing drive in the park located at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rises above a saucer of clouds and dominates every aspect of Amboseli. This park covers only 150 square miles. Despite its small size and its fragile ecosystem, it supports a wide range of mammals (over 50 of the larger species) and birds (over 400 species). Dinner and overnight at Zebra Plains Amboseli. Zebra Plains Amboseli is a luxurious boutique tented camp which offers personal and exceptional care to its guest

Day 4

We head out early on for another game drive, travelling through the park in search of wildlife. Today, experience the sweeping open spaces of Amboseli through an early morning and late evening game drives. The Park’s main attraction is its herds of Elephants and the bulls here have largest tusks in all of Kenya. We return to the lodge in time for breakfast, followed by time at leisure and later a relaxing lunch. This afternoon brings with it another game drive, further increasing our chances of observing rare wildlife.

Day 5

This morning, we drive back to Nairobi, where we enjoy lunch at the Big Five Restaurant. Sitting on the edge of Nairobi National Park, the restaurant boasts a 300-foot veranda which offers magnificent views over the wild scenery, giving us the chance to spot animals as we dine. We set out after lunch and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Besides the flamingos that Lake Nakuru is famous for, there are approximately 400 other species of birds found there. In addition, a large variety of game can be found in the Park including the introduced Rothschild’s Giraffe, Black and White Rhino, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Baboon and many species of plains game. Arrive late evening with game drives enroute. Our representative will assist you with your check in formalities as you relax. Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge is located on a range of hills that form the western limits of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, the lodge offers spectacular views over the vastness of Africa. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6

Early morning breakfast, we set out for the Great Rift Valley, where our destination is the Zebra Plains Tented Camp in Maasai Mara. We will have a stopover at Narok where will have our hot lunch at supreme Lounge. Perhaps the jewel in the crown of Kenya's wildlife viewing areas, Maasai Mara is one of the most popular game reserves in Africa and is revered around the world for its exceptional wildlife, as well as its annual wildebeest migration. We get another chance to see the 'Big Five' as we head out on to the plains on safari. Animals here are free to roam beyond the unfenced confines of the reserve, resulting in a symbiotic relationship between the wildlife and local Maasai tribes, whose villages dot the grasslands. We may see lions striding proudly across the plains, herds of elephants bathing in the shallow waters and giraffes reaching out towards the lofty trees in search of foliage. Enjoy this evening’s game drive before retiring to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Enjoy the entire two dayS exploring the splendor of an African sunrise for full days of game viewing, returning to the camp for lunch and dinner or opt for full days of game drives with picnic lunches in the bush. Negotiating the roads and tracks down from the camp, you are transported into a world of timeless natural wonder; one where the sights, sounds, and pageantry of life continue on just as they have for thousands of years. As the day progresses, your driver’s deep knowledge of the land becomes apparent as he leads you to one spot of outstanding beauty after the next, allowing you to observe the wildlife quietly and at your leisure. The evenings will be filled with bonfires, discussions and often cultural performances by the Maasais. One of these days you can optionally visit a Masai Village as well as enjoy bush breakfasts and bush dinners arranged on different days at an extra cost. Optional activities can be arranged for you during these two nights stay, like a Balloon ride which we highly recommend. Where you Lift –off at dawn rising with the sun and gently float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take you. At times this balloon will be piloted at treetop level offering unique perspectives of the wildlife and many great photo opportunities

Day 8

Enjoy the entire two day exploring the splendor of an African sunrise for full days of game viewing, returning to the camp for lunch and dinner or opt for full days of game drives with picnic lunches in the bush.

Day 9

After breakfast, we leave Maasai Mara and transfer to Nairobi, where we visit the Giraffe Centre. Dedicated to the conservation of the endangered Rothschild's Giraffe, the park has bred and released more than 40 calves into safe game parks across the country. Enjoy some free time here. You could visit the information center and educate yourself further on wildlife in Kenya, stroll along the scenic nature trail, or even hand-feed a giraffe.
