What to Expect
Culture and heritage day tour strives to show case Kenyaâs rich diversity in miniature. The country has 42 tribes with different languages and habits providing a unique mix of culture and heritage. This little adventure ensures that you visit specific places in our beloved town that are sure to be as educational as they are exciting.
Day 1
DETAILED ITINERARY0800HRS NAIROBI NATIONAL MUSEUM
You shall be picked up from your hotel by your driver guide and a representative from the company and driven to the National Museum of Kenya located at Museum Hill a few kilometers from the city centers. It is the flagship museum for the National Museums of Kenya and it houses celebrated collections of Kenyaâs history, Nature, Culture and contemporary art. You shall be taken around by your museum guide who will be very willing to answer all your questions. Adjacent to the museum is the snake park filled with different kinds of exotic reptiles for you to feast your eyes upon. Finish up and then head over to the railways museum.
1130HRS RAILWAYS MUSEUM
After a wonderful educational morning at the museum, head over to the Railway Museum where you shall have a chance to dive even deeper into the culture and history of Kenya. Some of the collections found within the museum include; ship models, photographs from the original construction of the Kenya Uganda Railway, maps and drawings, a silver service set used on overnight trains to Mombasa. A stunning collection of steam locomotives and rolling stock can also be found within the collection for all to marvel at. A popular exhibit within the establishment is the carriage that was used during the hunt for the Man-eater of Kima in the 1900âs. Your guide shall be able to give you any further insight into the collections on display. Your driver guide shall also direct you to a place where you can have your lunch (at clientâs own cost) before heading over to the next destination.
1430HRS BOMAS OF KENYA
Your day shall progress into a visit to the Bomas of Kenya. The Bomas of Kenya allows one to experience the rich diversity of authentic Kenyan music and dancing. Located about ten kilometers from Nairobi, it is an ideal place to learn about the music, arts, culture, crafts and lifestyle of each tribe found within the country. There exists an acrobatic team that entertains individuals with their jaw dropping, heart stopping skills. The traditional villages that are spread out around the area provide insight into how different tribesâ traditional homesteads actually look like. There is also an amusement park for the children and as such proves to be an attraction that is completely family friendly. You shall be treated to a rich traditional music and dance shows at the cultural center.
1645HRS DEPARTURE
At the end of the day you shall be driven back to your hotel or the international airport as per your preference.
