How to get to Malindi

  • By Air: Flights run daily from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport to Malindi. The flight is 1 hour.
  • By Rail: The Madaraka Express (SGR) from Nairobi to Mariakani takes 5 hours 28 minutes. You can then get a taxi or shuttle from the SGR terminus at Mariakani to Malindi. This is a 2 – 3 hour drive.
  • By Road: You can catch an overnight bus from Nairobi to Malindi. This is a long trip taking around 7 – 8 hours. but normally the most cost effective way to get to Malindi.
    If self driving follow Mombasa road from Nairobi to Mombasa then proceed to Malindi. This a 7 – 8 hour drive. The road distance from Nairobi to Malindi is 566.3 kilometers (352 miles)
