What to Expect
Early in the morning, we will start our full day trip to Hellâs Gate National Park with a 90km drive from Nairobi at the hotel of residence taking the route leading us to the Park. Hellâs Gate National Park is just a short hours drive from Nairobi. This Park lies south of Lake Naivasha in Kenya, north west of Nairobi. The Park is named after a narrow break in the cliffs, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. up from the hotel in Nairobi. Your day tour includes bicycle rental, and you'll trade your safari vehicle for a bike to begin your journey through the park. Don't worry! Your car will drive behind you to ensure you've got a place to rest if you get too tired.
Your first stop will be the spectacular Fisher's Tower, where the adventurous can choose to ascend the 45m tower. Equipment can be rented on the spot, and all climb's are guided by local professionals.
From here, you've got a long but scenic ride to the famous Hell's Gate Gorge - where you can walk and climb your way through the distinctive terrain that helped inspire Disney's famous The Lion King.
The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, unusual flora, and many species of bird. The African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson's gazelle and baboons are common. The park is also home to klipspringer antelope and Chandlerâs mountain reedbuck.
There are over 100 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux's Eagles, augur buzzard and swifts. The rare Lammergeyer Vulture is present here.
After the Park tour ; you are guided to the nearby gorges to view the âdevilâs kitchenâ and the âdevilâs bathroomâ. Later, enjoy your snacks and head out to the geothermal hot springs to be amazed by the wonders of nature before heading back to Nairobi.
