Tiwi Beach is located south of Mombasa. It is a secluded place compared to the other resort beaches. The beach has even and white sand, and the beach line stretches for several kilometres, from the Mwachema River northwards until it hits coral cliffs. Further north, the secretive Maweni beach is strewn with shells and starfish. The entire coastline is overlooked by reef that sit close to shore, and are exposed in low tide. The tides bring algae and sea urchins, so it is not recommended to swim here without special shoes. Tiwi Beach is a perfect place for snorkelling, diving and bird watching. The coral reef with its unique inhabitants is located 50 meters away from the beach and can be accessed by boat.
